I'm a developer, a statistics nerd and a Last.fm user. When I entered the world of vinyl, I couldn't find an app focused on listening to records rather than simply cataloging them. I wanted detailed statistics, gear tracking and scrobbling to Last.fm and Libre.fm. GrooveLedger.app started as a personal project to solve that problem, and I decided to share it with everyone else.
No. GrooveLedger.app and GrooveLedger.com are completely separate projects, with no shared ownership, infrastructure or user data. I came up with the GrooveLedger name for this vinyl project at a time when the .com domain was not being used for an active service. We somehow ended up launching around the same time, which made the coincidence look more dramatic than it was. Same name, different grooves.
Yes. GrooveLedger.app is free to use, has no ads and does not sell your data. It's my own personal project that I've built for myself and decided to share it with the world. But if you like it, you can support me on Ko-Fi to help me keep the app spinning. If the project continues to grow, I may introduce optional premium features to help fund development, but everything that's free today will stay free for existing users.

GrooveLedger.app is not just about collection, it's about tracking your spins, managing your audio equipment, tracking stylus wear, providing listening statistics and much more. You do not need one to add records manually or use the rest of the app. A linked Discogs account is required if you want to import your personal collection or resync it later. You can otherwise register via email or using your Google or Last.fm account.
No. Both accounts are optional. Last.fm can also be used to log in, while Libre.fm is available for account linking and scrobbling. You can link one provider, both providers, or neither and still use the rest of the app; email, Google and Discogs registration remain available.
The easiest way is to scan the barcode on your record sleeve if your device has a camera. If not, you can search by album name, artist name, catalog number, barcode, matrix number, etc. GrooveLedger.app uses Discogs under the hood so as long as the record exists there, you will find it.
Yes. That was one of the original ideas behind this app. Link Last.fm and Libre.fm independently and enable scrobbling; when both are linked, tracks and Now Playing updates are sent to both services. If something goes wrong, or you're currently offline, your scrobbles stay queued and are sent to each linked service as soon as possible. You can also temporarily disable scrobbling. The app uses the start time and duration of each track to provide accurate timestamps.
Now Playing is published while you listen, while the final scrobble waits until at least half of the track has played. The actual scrobbling happens in the background, so closing the tab does not stop it. If Last.fm or Libre.fm is rate-limited, briefly unavailable or your phone was offline, the track stays queued and is retried in session order. The two providers are independent, so one can have a problem without stopping the other.
When you add a record to your collection, all its data is fetched from Discogs, including track durations. So every track you play through a listening session has its duration and GrooveLedger.app sums those durations per stylus, so the hours you see are hours you actually played, not an estimate from the number of records. You can specify the expected lifespan for every stylus you add, and then you can track the wear. You can add multiple styluses and then you choose one when you play the record.
GrooveLedger.app currently supports turntables, cartridges and styluses. You can see the total play time for all of these, but you can only specify the expected lifespan and track wear for styluses.
Of course. When you open GrooveLedger.app on your phone, you will get a prompt to install it as an app and this works on both Android and iOS. The app can work offline with limited functionality. You cannot add new records or change settings, but you can spin your existing records. The app will temporarily store the listening sessions you started offline. Once you are back online, these will be synced back to the database and scrobbled to Last.fm and Libre.fm, if enabled.
Well, there is one already, sort of. Although GrooveLedger.app is a website, it's built as a PWA so it can be installed on your phone and act as an app. I have no plans to make native apps for now as maintaining native apps for multiple platforms would take significantly more time.
Yes. Connect your Discogs account, open the collection import wizard and choose the folders and individual releases you want to move. You can resync that selection later, and you can opt in to periodic checks for new releases. GrooveLedger.app never deletes local records automatically when something disappears from Discogs.
The first import runs as soon as you confirm the releases you selected. Later, Resync now refreshes that saved selection manually. Enable automatic sync if you want the hourly background job to check the selected folders, and enable Include new releases if those checks should add releases that appeared there after the import. Both options are off by default, and neither option deletes records from GrooveLedger.app.
Not yet, but they are definitely on the roadmap, together with reel-to-reel tapes, MiniDiscs and other formats.
Not yet, but it is on the roadmap, including the gear and listening sessions. You will be able to have a public profile to showcase your equipment, collection and what you've been listening to, with the ability to fine-tune what you want to show and what you want to hide.

Support GrooveLedger.appYes, whenever you want. There are buttons for exporting on the collection page, listening page and account settings page. You can export your collection and your full play history as CSV or JSON with no restrictions.
Your data is private by default, and no one can see your collection or what you've been listening to. I don't sell or share your data with third parties. See the privacy page for the details.
The sign-up and sign-in forms run a small check in your browser before sending your credentials. This check needs a current browser with JavaScript and Web Workers enabled. If the check fails, a checkbox appears at the bottom of the form so you can try again. If it still does not work, use the contact form and include the browser and device you are using, and I will help sort it out.
